I am a mixed media artist, living in Northern California. My two dimensional work in oil and cold wax as well as acrylic are often combined with ink and pastel. I come to my painting practice after years of producing jewelry and vessel forms in silver, copper and enamel. I continue to explore the vessel form although my primary focus is on paintings on cradled board, paper or canvas.

My work, whether two or three dimensional is nature inspired and centered at least in the
beginning phase on the context of the present moment. The elements, the seasons and the
colors, are a way both into the painting as well as into memory.

My primarily abstract work is often marked with a horizon line suggesting landscape without
particularity of place. I explore human form in relationship to and as a part of nature.

I love gestural intuitive expression and mark making which convey the momentary energetic
impulse as well as repetitive, meditative brushstrokes that focus on a single idea or a feeling state.
