Max's Midnight Kitchen are a nationally touring string band based out of Portland, Oregon. Their sound is characterized by original tunes that combine time-honored folk, bluegrass, and country themes with a dash of surrealism and contemporary humor. Informed by travels up and down the interstates of the US, as well as across international borders, their music attempts to find a middle ground between the local and the global.
In addition to their own compositions, they perform traditional songs from Depression-era Old Weird America, from the folk revival of the 60’s, and from the 70’s Newgrass movement spearheaded by John Hartford. Every show with Max’s Midnight Kitchen is a chance to celebrate the power and history of song, as well as to build a community around the love of good ol’ pickin’ and singin’!
