Gigi Lassan

Raised in South of France, Gislene "Gigi" Lassan moved to Los Angeles in 1978 where she taught French language in various schools. In 1989, she founded her own school: France Exchange. During 25 years, Gigi dedicated her life to teaching French and transmitted her passion to generations of students.  As an artist (Gigi paints and makes jewelry) she always had it in her heart to make the French classes a special time of fun and pleasure. With her wonderful French immersion program, she received “the Family Choice Award” in 2003. Gigi and her husband Allen moved to Florence in September 2014.

 

Private Classes

Private classes: $45.00 per person or $35.00 per person with 2 students.

Customized private one-on-one instruction is available. You will benefit from flexible scheduling and personalized instruction. These sessions are available for adults, teens and kids at all levels of proficiency. Lessons may be taken one-on-one or in groups of two.

 

Conversation Class

Wine and cheese conversation class: $35.00 per student for 2 hours

Let’s speak French in a comfortable and friendly environment with a glass of wine. This class is open to everyone and every level with an interest of speaking French! It is a chance to socialize and perhaps meet new people in French!

Description

Beginner classes: New to French? Start speaking French from day one with our French class for complete beginners and experience an immersive introduction to French language and culture! Learn to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases to interact with others at a beginner’s level through authentic resources and real world tasks that will introduce you to the structure and use of language in everyday life through interactive and multimedia activities, texts, etc.. You will learn to introduce yourself and someone else, how to excuse yourself, how to ask basic questions and talk about your daily life, how to read simple announcements and find your way in France!

 

Intermediate classes: This group class will strengthen your oral and written communication skills while expanding the ways you can talk about your interests, and express your ideas, aspirations, and opinions.  Through interactive and multimedia activities, texts, and course books you will learn to ask for written advice, characterize people and their behaviors, negotiate, and plan your trip to France if needed!

 

Advanced classes: Broaden your knowledge of the structure and use of French language and practice both oral and written skills through socio-cultural themes. In this class, you will engage with the language through news programs, French songs, video clips, French movies, listen to radio programs, and learn to write brief articles. You will also analyze contemporary cultural affairs. 

 

Qualify for next level of instruction

A minimum of 12 sessions are generally required to advance to the next level of instruction. For example, after you complete 12 sessions of Beginning French, you will most likely be ready for the Intermediate class.
